• Magnesium: which is known for its muscle-relaxing properties can help alleviate sciatica pain, fibromyalgia, post-operative pain, dysmenorrhea, headaches, and acute migraine attacks. Patients suffering from neuropathic pain, such as those with malignancy-related neurologic symptoms, postherpetic neuralgia, diabetic neuropathy, and chemotherapy- induced peripheral neuropathy. The consensus is that magnesium acts to support a neuromuscular blockade acting as a calcium channel blocker at presynaptic nerve terminals and reduces acetylcholine release. This diminishes muscle fiber excitability, which leads to a neuromuscular blockade.
• B-12: Multiple beneficial effects of vitamin B12 including the regeneration of nerves and the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes and other pain-signaling pathways studies have shown promise. Studies have demonstrated synergistic benefits of vitamin B12 combined with other pain medications, including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Clinical trials provide evidence for the effectiveness of vitamin B12 for the treatment of low back pain and neuralgia. Evidence from trials suggests that vitamins B3, B9 and B12 might be of some benefit for treating osteoarthritis, particularly in improving joint mobility and hand grip. Vitamin B-12 acts as an antioxidant or anti-inflammation agent, which might modulate oxidative stress responses, including those of inflammatory responses.
• Calcium: A person with a calcium deficiency may experience muscle aches, cramps, and spasms, pain in the thighs and arms when walking or moving, numbness and tingling in the hands, arms, feet, and legs. Low calcium levels can lead to osteoporosis, brittle bones, and lower back pain. People who suffer from kidney disease, had surgery to remove the stomach, diet lacking calcium, or are taking diuretics (water pills) may need to supplement their calcium levels.

Acute herpetic and post-herpetic neuralgia are also diminished with high dose vitamin C administration. Furthermore, cancer-related pain is decreased with high dose vitamin C, contributing to enhanced patient quality of life. A few mechanisms have been proposed for vitamin C’s analgesic properties. Vitamin C appears to be a safe and effective adjunctive therapy for acute and chronic pain relief.
